I received my Ph.D. degree in Jan, 2022 from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Minnesota, under the supervision of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www-users.cse.umn.edu\/~isler\/\">Prof. Volkan Isler<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My research interests are in the general area of&nbsp;<strong><em>Robotics<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;perception, mapping, planning, and control for practical indoor and field applications such as precision agriculture and environmental monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One focus of my research is to study how to improve the energy efficiency of robots in these applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I study how to apply learning-based methods to predict energy-cost maps so that energy-optimal paths can be planned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I study and design energy-aware path planning algorithms to minimize total energy consumption.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I also implement practical robotic systems, e.g. autonomous robot mowers, for these applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please visit my personal <a href=\"https:\/\/minghanwei.github.io\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/minghanwei.github.io\">website<\/a> for most recent information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"-news\">News<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>June, 2025<\/strong>: Excited to share that our NSF&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/awardsearch\/showAward?AWD_ID=2452203&amp;HistoricalAwards=false\">proposal<\/a>&nbsp;<em>\u201cCRII: FRR: Towards Energy-optimal Multi-Robot Navigation for Time-critical Field Tasks\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;has been awarded!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>June, 2023<\/strong>: I will be joining Florida Atlantic University on August 7, 2023 as an assistant professor to pursue my robotics research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>June, 2022<\/strong>: I have joined Google as a Software Engineer in the Augmented Reality &#8211; Motion tracking team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jan, 2022<\/strong>: I have joined iRobot as a Senior Robotics Software Engineer working on the mapping and planning for the autonomous vacuum cleaners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>June, 2021<\/strong>: This summer I would be a Data Science intern at 3M.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jan, 2020<\/strong>: I would be a Research Intern from January to August at Samsung Research America &#8211;
