The full title of the session is:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/agu.confex.com\/agu\/fm15\/preliminaryview.cgi\/Session7705\">Evapotranspiration: Advances in In Situ Measurements and Remote Sensing Based Modeling Approaches<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are about 33 presentations included in this session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Session ID#: <\/strong> 7705<\/p>\n<h5>Session Description:<\/h5>\n<div class=\"sessionItem\">Evapotranspiration (ET), linking energy and the water cycles, is one of the fluxes most challenging to quantify in hydrology. Because its determination is prone to large errors, marked differences exist between various methods. This session will cover both\u00a0<i>in situ<\/i>\u00a0and satellite-based estimations of ET. <i>In situ<\/i> methods\u00a0(lysimeters, eddy covariance, Bowen ratio, scintillometer, etc.) are essential for understanding ET processes, field verification and bias-correction of remote sensing and modelling approaches. Satellite-based estimations are important for large area ET mapping. However, sources and magnitude of bias and uncertainty tend to vary by method\/hydro-climate.
