Smart and Livable Cities Group

GRADUATE STUDENT ASSISTANTSHIP

Applicants are invited to apply for funded graduate student positions working with the Smart and Livable Cities Group in the department of civil, environmental and geomatics engineering. The research team is seeking for highly motivated and outstanding Ph.D. students, interested in structural health monitoring, structural dynamics, smart cities, connected vehicles, embedded sensor networks, and machine learning. The candidate will conduct novel research in large-scale sensor networks, smart structural systems, and smart cities and transportation.

Candidates are expected to have Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in any relevant science or engineering discipline. Ideally, successful candidates may have (1) fundamental engineering knowledge and strong mathematical skills; (2) proficiency in computer programming (e.g., Python, Matlab, C#, javascript); and (3) excellent communication and team science skills. All of the above-described technical skills are preferred, not required. However, a priority will be given to candidates with strong computational skills and mathematical background.

The positions are to start in Fall 2024. Applications for the positions will be open until they are filled. Please contact Dr. Jinwoo Jang at jangj@fau.edu for details.
