Postdoctoral Fellow
We are currently looking for a postdoc! He or she will have the opportunity to work on one or more closely related projects at the interface of optics, fluid dynamics and physical/biological oceanography, with the primary focus on developing and deploying novel optical instrumentation to characterize particles and small-scale flow interactions in laboratory settings as well as diverse marine environments. They will be expected to participate in designing optical systems for fluid, particle and/or plankton imaging, field work (prior experience is not necessary), data acquisition/analysis, and developing data post-processing routines. Individual projects in which the postdoc might participate include: (a) Developing a technique to estimate refractive index of individual oceanic particles in situ; (b) Developing submersible, low-cost particle imaging velocimetry systems; and/or (c) Developing algorithms for holographic particle image velocimetry (HPIV) analysis for a field-based system.

Masters Student
We are also looking to hire a masters student. This student will be working with holographic imagery for plankton/particle detection. He or she should have a bachelors degree in a STEM field.
If interested, please contact Dr. Nayak for more information at anayak@fau.edu.
