An article on “Spatiotemporal patterns of the impact of surface roughness and morphology on urban heat island” was published on “Sustainable Cities and Society”

• We quantify the correlation between urban morphology and heat island.
• 1D surface roughness emerges as a good indicator of urban morphology.
• Urban planning needs to consider potential nonlinearity in the correlation.

The study was a collaboration with Dr. Zhi-Hua Wang’s research group in  Arizona State University.
