South Florida Construction Career Day
FAU Geomatics Engineering students, and faculty attended the South Florida Construction Career Day in Davie, FL on Oct. 20-21, 2015. Over 1000 high school students visited the event. Drs. Nagarajan and Su, Geomatics undergraduate students, Christina Sheehan and Augustus Slaven, Geomatics gruaduate student Debojit Biswas, set up an hands-on learning lab on “Roadway & GPS Surveying” with the help from the partners from Bowman Consulting, Wantman Group, FSMS and FDOT.

2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting
The 2nd FIG Young Surveyors North American Meeting will be held on February 10, 2016 in conjunction with the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) 2016 Annual Conference at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The program is in the process of being finalized. Key speakers currently confirmed include:
– Prof. Mike Barry- Chair, Land Tenure and Cadastral Systems, Department of Geomatics Engineering, University of Calgary
– Terry Bennett- Senior Industry Strategist for Civil Infrastructure, Autodesk
– Don Buhler- Chief Cadastral Surveyor, US Dept of Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
– Bryn Fosburgh- Executive Vice President, Trimble Navigation
– Ken Mooyman- President, Leica Geosystems (NAFTA)

Overview
Harris Corporation is a worldwide provider of Defense and Aerospace product and services including a Geospatial Commercial Division.
Harris provides a variety of Space and airborne solutions to the international remote sensing community with over 23,000 employees and 9,000+ engineers.
This two part field trip will be an introduction of Harris IntelliEarth™ Commercial Remote sensing hardware, products, and services including an introduction to Geiger Mode LiDAR
In addition, an interactive half hour tour of our customer Briefing Center (CBC) will highlight a broad variety of product and services from all Harris divisions many relevant to the work we do in the commercial and defense remote sensing community.
Geomatics student Paige Rogolin received the Outstanding Academic Students award from Northern Campuses Achievement Awards (NCAA). The Northern Campuses Achievement Awards were presented on April 14, 2015. Paige is the only engineering student who received the Outstanding Academic Students award in 2015. Congratulations to Paige!

About 20 FAU Geomatics students gathered to have a BBQ on April 11, 2015 to celebrate the ending the Spring semester. Before the BBQ, students finished the last surveying lab session on FAU campus.
