FAU Geomatics graduate student, Jason Blankenship, won the Francis H. Moffitt Memorial Scholarship from the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) during the ASPRS 2018 meeting in Denver Colorado on Feb. 6, 2018. Jason received $7000 and one-year membership from ASPRS. This award was presented by American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, the Management Association of Private Photogrammetric Surveyors and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping. Jason Blankenship has over 18 years of experience in Civil Engineering, Lidar Processing, Photogrammetry, GIS, and Surveying. He holds a bachelor degree in Geomatics Engineering from FAU and plans to graduate in May of 2018 with a master degree in Civil Engineering. Jason has served as a graduate research assistant with the College of Engineering and Computer Science and is developing a new method of mapping that combines computer vision with classic photogrammetry techniques. He is the outgoing chair of the Student Advisory Council for ASPRS and the current president of the ASPRS FAU student chapter.
