Teaching and Pedagogical Experience

Dr. T. has taught more than 3500 students in several undergraduate, graduate and special courses, special class lectures in several schools (University of Brescia, Italy, Politecnico Di Torino, Italy, Kyoto University, Japan, Nirma University, India, University of Manitoba, Canada, University of Kentucky, Florida Atlantic University, USA). He has worked as a teaching assistant for several courses and taught courses as a visiting assistant professor, adjunct faculty and lecturer. He has developed several creative course initiatives. He has served as member in three Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs): (1) Technology-Enhanced Learning; (2) Inquiry-Based Learning and (3) Assessment Technologies and Strategies.  He has served as a co-chair for the FLC related to Inquiry-based Learning. He has served as reviewer for several IEEE conferences on education. He is currently enrolled in E-learning program at FAU. Dr. T. has provided service to the Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering department in curriculum development, development of new courses, lab manuals and electives for undergraduate students, ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) documentation, Ph.D. proposal development, senior design course lectures and mentoring of students and guidance in Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and developed career guidance presentations.  He has worked as a FAU ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) Chapter Faculty Adviser in the department for two years.

Dr. T. is currently the graduate program chair/coordinator in the department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering, FAU.

Course Project Initiatives

Creative Research for Enhancement of Engineering Knowledge in Hydrologic Systems (CREEEKHS)
This imitative is created to encourage undergraduate students to undertake independent analysis and research activities to understand engineering aspects of hydrological sciences.

teachi-1

Design Analysis and Methodology (DAM)
This initiative is created to encourage undergraduate students to undertake activities in design and analysis of engineering systems in hydrology.

teachi-2

Water Studies for Hydrologic Engineering and Design (WATERSHED)
This initiative is created to encourage students to work on exploratory analysis of data, application of water balance models for surface water assessment at a watershed scale along with calibration and validation. As a part of the course students are encouraged to look into practical solutions for water related problems

teachi-3

SPatial Analysis in Civil Engineering (SPACE)
This initiative focuses on spatial analysis of data, application of geographical information systems for civil engineering problems. As a part of the course students are encouraged to look into practical solutions for civil engineering problems which can be solved using GIS.

teachi-4
Rain Radar Relations (R3)
This initiative is both research and teaching specific with goals to understand radar-based data and develop methods to quantify relationships between radar and rain gage data sets.
